The Opening Scene Of Fallen Kingdom Was Shown At The Jurassic Park Celebration

At the start of tonight’s Jurassic Park 25th Anniversary screening at Universal Studios the opening scene of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom was shown. Videos of Steven Spielberg and J.A. Bayona were played to start the preview. Spielberg praised Bayona and his work on the sequel. Bayona shared what an inspiration Spielberg has been to him and his directing career.

The scene starts underwater and follows a submarine that is looking for the remains of the Indominus Rex to extract its DNA. The team takes the Indominus’s tooth to bring back to their "boss." The Jurassic World park is completely destroyed. The Dinosaurs have taken over after the events of Jurassic World. The mission goes bad when the Tyrannosaurus Rex shows up and the team has to scatter. The T-Rex can’t catch the team and they appear to get away from it. The preview ends when the Mosasaurus shows up and finishes what the T-Rex started.

The scene played for roughly 10 minutes and it felt far more intense than anything in 2015’s Jurassic World. The CGI was just as prevalent as it was in Jurassic World, but it felt much more realized and complete here. When the T-Rex appears it felt similar to Spielberg’s handling of the dinosaur. He was scary and fierce, like it was in 1993.

It’s hard to predict how successful Fallen Kingdom will be based on the 10 minutes that were shown. But, some of the issues fans had with Jurassic World seemed to be addressed in this sequel. The small amount I got to witness definitely has me more excited about Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom than I was previously.
