We’re Back! A Dinosaur’s Story was released on this date in 1993. The Amblimation animated film featured the voices of John Goodman, Jay Leno and Charles Fleisher.Synopsis:
A scientist travels back in time to find dinosaurs to give them intelligence and make them nonviolent. The dinosaurs are then brought to present day New York to fulfill the wishes of kids that want to see a real life dinosaur. The dinosaurs make new friends but also have problems with the evil Professor Screweyes. Screweyes wants the dinosaurs to join his circus that is designed to scare people.
Positives:
We’re Back! A Dinosaur’s Story has a few nice messages for kids. But, sadly the messages get lost in the over stuffed plot and story.
Negatives:
We’re Back! features an incredibly convoluted story and plot. Way too much stuff is packed into the film’s short running time of a little bit more than 70 minutes.
The characters are extremely boring and thinly crafted. There isn’t one character that rises above the standard animation film clichés.
The animation is flat and often lackluster. The entire film looks cheap and rushed.
In Closing:
We’re Back! A Dinosaur’s Story lacks focus and clear vision. There are a lot of characters and ideas in the film, but none of them are that interesting. The animation offers no style and nothing to get excited about. We’re Back! A Dinosaur’s Story is a gigantic misfire that the entire family will wish they skipped.
