The Steven Spielberg film has brought in nearly 130 million, as of today, in the United States. Overseas it has grossed nearly $400 million. Grossing over half a billion so far has made the sci-fi adventure one of Spielberg’s biggest hits ever, and the first time he really lit the box office on fire since 2008’s Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. The run of Ready Player One is even more impressive when you consider it had competition from smashes like A Quiet Place and Black Panther—two films that did much better than anyone expected.
