Horror movies often describe events that take place on the road. The main characters are traveling, just going to visit or looking for an object

Most of us drive a car every day, so the plot of these movies is particularly disturbing and can subconsciously appear in our imagination. Movieweb offers five of the scariest travel horror movies.

Fasten your seat belts because it's going to be very scary!

5. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre

Even almost 50 years after its release, the movie is one of the most famous horror franchises, and Leatherface has become a cult villain. The original film begins with a group of friends in the mid-70s traveling through the Texas countryside in a van to find the grave of Sally's grandfather. Along the way, the friends pick up a rather strange hitchhiker who turns out to be an intruder. After stopping at a roadside gas station for some food, the young people find themselves in the home of a family of ritualistic cannibals who force them into an endless nightmare of blood and violence.

4. Near Dark

A thriller about a man who belongs to a coven of nomadic vampires. In the story, May turns a Midwestern farm boy, Caleb, into a vampire, who must now show his power in front of a coven or be killed. Led by the ruthless Severen, a group of vampires roam the night roads in stolen cars and wreak havoc in roadside bars and taverns. The film combines classic western themes with vampire stories to create a wild horror movie that takes the viewer on an endless nightmare of a journey.

3. The Hitcher

Another horror movie that makes you not want to hitchhike ever again. It tells the story of a young man traveling from Chicago to San Diego. Bored during his journey, he picks up a hitchhiker named John Ryder in West Texas. Almost immediately after he introduces himself, John pulls out a knife and threatens the driver.

John then relentlessly pursues Jim, framing him for a series of murders. It's more of a thriller than a horror movie, but the concept is still frightening. The situation is truly terrifying: you are being hunted by a serial killer. At the same time, the police are convinced that you are the criminal.

2. Х

The movie is reminiscent of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre with its rural Texas setting and a group of young friends on a long road trip. They even stop at a farm that is similar to the one in The Massacre. The similarities fade as the group begins to interact with the owners, and it becomes more apparent that this horrific elderly couple are truly evil. The young people have come to make a rather adult movie, and their elderly hosts simply can't handle it. Fueled by pure jealousy and envy because they are no longer young and attractive, the couple wages war on the amateur filmmakers.

1. The Hills Have Eyes

Possibly the best travel horror movie ever made, Wes Craven's horror icon The Hills Have Eyes tells the story of the Carter family's RV trip to California. The family accidentally passes through a restricted area, which leaves them stranded in the Nevada desert. When their dog runs away and doesn't return, the Carters meet a crazed family of cannibals who live in the desert hills. The Carters experience pain and suffering at the hands of these reclusive psychopaths.

The Hills Have Eyes is frightening because the events that take place in the movie, although unlikely, are still believable.
