David F. Sandberg's highly anticipated adaptation of the popular PlayStation horror game, Until Dawn, has officially wrapped production. Sandberg, known for previous horror projects like Lights Out and Annabelle: Creation, shared this major update on his official Instagram, marking the end of filming with a bloody clapboard image. The movie adaptation won't entirely mirror the game's narrative but will maintain the core premise. In the original Until Dawn game, players navigated a storyline reminiscent of a classic slasher flick, where eight friends face perils at a remote mountain lodge, under the threat of a mysterious killer. The game's branching paths and "Butterfly Effect" made it a replayable hit when it debuted in 2015. It sparked interest with its unique system, and it's awaited to see if the film will pay homage to this element.
Casting includes Ella Rubin, Michael Cimino, Odessa A’zion, Ji-young Yoo, Maia Mitchell, Belmont Cameli, and notably, Peter Stormare, reprising his role as Dr. Allan J. Hill. In the game, Stormare portrayed the eerie psychologist guiding the player through choices that affected the narrative and underlined psychological horror—his contribution being one of the game's personalized experiences.
Screenplay responsibilities lie with Gary Dauberman, Sandberg’s collaborator on Annabelle: Creation.
