How to Make Homemade Coconut Yogurt
Creating coconut yogurt at home is simple and only requires two ingredients. Follow these steps to make delicious coconut yogurt from scratch!
Ingredients
- 1 can of full-fat coconut milk
- 1 probiotic capsule
Instructions
1. Combine Coconut Milk
Pour the coconut milk from the can into your jar. If the contents have separated, scoop out both the cream and liquid into the jar. Whisk them together until smooth.
2. Add Probiotic
Open the probiotic capsule and pour the powder into the jar. Use a wooden spoon to stir the mixture thoroughly, ensuring no clumps remain.
3. Cover and Ferment
Cover the jar with a thin, clean dish towel or cheesecloth, securing it with an elastic band. Avoid using a tight lid.
4. Allow to Ferment
Let it sit at room temperature for 48 hours. Alternatively, place the jar in your unused oven with the light on to maintain warmth. Remember not to turn on the oven!
5. Check and Refrigerate
After 48 hours, check for any unpleasant smells or unusual growths. Stir the mixture thoroughly, then twist a tight lid on top. Place the jar in the refrigerator to chill and thicken.
6. Optional Flavoring
After fermentation, feel free to add maple syrup, honey, or vanilla extract. Serve with fresh fruit for a delicious treat.
