If you have never experienced the tender, gooey, sun-kissed delight of orange rolls, you’re missing out. Even if a local restaurant doesn’t serve them, or if baking isn’t your passion, you can still savor sweet, glazed goodness.
This clever recipe utilizes a simple can of store-bought cinnamon rolls for delicious, easy orange rolls. Professionals have created a way to transform ordinary ingredients into an incredible treat.
Ingredients
- Baking spray with flour
- 1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons orange marmalade
- 2 tablespoons grated orange zest, plus 3 tablespoons juice (from 2 oranges), divided
- 2 (17.5 oz.) cans refrigerated jumbo cinnamon rolls (like Pillsbury Grands!), separated into 10 rolls
- 1/4 cup (2 oz.) unsalted butter, melted
- 1 1/2 cups (about 6 oz.) powdered sugar
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F. Coat 10 cups of a 12-cup muffin tray with baking spray. Line a large rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
- In a small bowl, stir the marmalade and orange zest together. Reserve 2 1/2 tablespoons of this marmalade mixture for later.
- Working with one cinnamon roll at a time, unroll it and spread 2 teaspoons of the remaining marmalade mixture over the dough. Transfer the unrolled cinnamon roll to the prepared muffin tray. Start at one end of the roll, placing it in the bottom of the muffin well and spiraling it up the side. Once the sides are covered, roll the opposite end into a cone-shaped spiral and nestle it in the center. Repeat with the remaining rolls and marmalade mixture.
- Brush the tops of the rolls evenly with melted butter. Discard any leftover butter. Place the muffin tray on the prepared baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven. Cook until golden brown and puffed, about 15 to 18 minutes. Remove the tray and cool for 10 minutes. Transfer rolls to a platter.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, reserved 2 1/2 tablespoons of marmalade mixture, and 2 tablespoons of orange juice until smooth. If needed, add the remaining orange juice one teaspoon at a time until you reach the desired consistency. Drizzle the glaze over the rolls and serve immediately.
