An expert tells how to increase the speed of a WI-FI router using three simple techniques

The Internet with low speed is not very functional and difficult to use effectively. So, one way or another, you'll have to figure out how to increase your data transfer speed. Is there a solution to this problem?

Thus, according to experts from High-Speed Internet, there are three simple life hacks that can increase Wi-Fi speed. Here's what they recommend doing.

Move your router

One of the easiest things you can do to get faster Wi-Fi is to move your router to the center of your home.

"Wi-Fi signals spread over a certain distance. Therefore, if you place your wireless router at the extreme point, you will have problems with Wi-Fi on the other end of the house," notes High-Speed Internet.

"Thus, it's best to place your router in the center of the house and preferably higher up, near where you use your communication services most often," it says.

Change the frequency

There are two frequencies that Wi-Fi operates on: 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz.

Most routers automatically switch to the channel that's best for you, but sometimes you need to change them manually.

"The frequency channels can be congested, so if you and all your neighbors are using the same 2.4 GHz channel, it slows down your Wi-Fi speed," High-Speed Internet says.

"Therefore, we strongly recommend finding the optimal Wi-Fi channel."

To do this, you can use the Wireless Diagnostics program on Macs. Just hold down the Option key and click on the Wi-Fi icon in the menu bar. After that, a list of the best available 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz channels will appear in the Scan window.

On Windows, you can use Windows PowerShell to view all available channels. To switch Wi-Fi to the best channel, log in to the router's online interface. Enter the router's IP address into your web browser, log in, and go to the settings.

Avoid large objects

To get the best Wi-Fi speed, make sure that the router is away from objects that interfere with its signal.

These include other electronics, large metal objects, and bulky furniture.

Among electronic devices, microwaves and televisions are the most likely to slow down Wi-Fi speeds because they emit strong signals.

In addition, many wireless electronic devices such as phones, microwaves, and baby monitors use the same frequency as your Wi-Fi router, which means they overload it. Keep this in mind.
