Baked Camembert Delight
What a time to be alive when Baked Camembert graces our tables. It’s one of life’s greatest pleasures – imagine creamy, melted cheese with fresh bread to dunk. This simple delight is ready in about 20 minutes. Baked Camembert offers comforting gooeyness and an unmistakable flavor, making it perfect for colder, darker days. SSP has prepared a recipe.
Ingredients:
- A whole Camembert wheel (250g)
- Fresh garlic (1-2 cloves)
- Fresh thyme leaves
- Fresh rosemary sprigs
- Runny honey
- Sea salt
- Olive oil
- Bite-sized pieces of stale bread
- Dried cranberries (a small handful)
- Mixed nuts (a small handful)
Steps:
1. Preheat the oven to 180ºC/350ºF/gas 4.
2. Unbox and unwrap the Camembert, then return it to its box. If it doesn’t have a box, see special notes.
3. Score the top of the cheese about 1/2 cm deep into diamond shapes using a sharp knife and slice finely peeled garlic. Press the garlic slices into the cuts. If desired, you can also cut off the top layer of the cheese’s skin.
4. Drizzle with honey, sprinkle with thyme leaves, and add some tips of fresh rosemary and a pinch of sea salt.
5. Optionally, thread bite-sized stale bread pieces onto woody rosemary sprigs, drizzle with olive oil, and sprinkle with sea salt. Place on a tray in the oven.
6. Bake everything together in the preheated oven for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the bread is golden and crispy, and the cheese is oozy and gooey in the middle.
7. Finely chop dried cranberries and mixed nuts. Serve the crispy bread skewers and melted Camembert together, and offer the cranberry and nut mixture to add on top for a delightful finish.
