How to descale an iron quickly and easily: step-by-step instructions
An iron is an important appliance in a modern household that ensures that our outfits look perfect. However, over time, it can accumulate soot and limescale caused by steam-generating water. SSPDaily has told you how to get rid of it quickly.
Don't worry, because there is a simple solution - ordinary vinegar. Due to its acid content, it easily dissolves scale, restoring the iron's operation.
Steps to a shiny iron
- Dilute the vinegar
Mix one part vinegar to three parts water to make a mild solution. Plain, enriched water works just fine.
- Refill the iron
Pour the solution into the iron's reservoir, making sure it covers all parts that are vulnerable to limescale build-up.
- Preheat the iron
Turn on the iron and set it to the maximum temperature.
- Release the steam
Once the iron is hot, release steam several times. The vinegar solution will effectively dissolve limescale and carbon deposits. Afterwards, turn off the appliance and let it cool down a bit.
- Wipe off any residue
Use a damp cloth or sponge to gently wipe the inside of the iron to remove any residual scale and vinegar solution.
Remember to take precautions
When cleaning your iron with vinegar, it is important to exercise caution as this solution can have a pungent odor. Also, make sure that it does not come into contact with the electrical components of the iron.
