Top 5 high-yielding cucumber varieties: tips for growing in the open field
Cucumbers have long been a favorite vegetable in Ukraine, but growing them can be a challenge. SSPDaily told you about the best varieties that guarantee a generous harvest.
It is believed that these green, slightly prickly fruits, which have been known for 6000 years, were brought to Ukraine by the Greeks who were in love with the Northern Black Sea region. Among the iconic varieties of cucumbers in our country, the Nezhin cucumbers stand out, even earning a monument erected in their honor in 2005.
Although growing cucumbers can be a challenge for some, we have identified five outstanding varieties that can withstand even the hottest heat.
1. "Hector F1" ranks first as the all-time leader. These cucumbers can reach a length of up to 12 centimeters, and they tolerate cold weather. Expect the first harvest in 28-34 days after planting.
2. For beginners, Aristocrat F1 is a great choice. This self-pollinated variety is resistant to drought and disease. Within 35 days after planting, you can start harvesting fruits.
3. "Amur F1" is famous for its resistance to frost and drought. Although the gherkins of this variety are small, they have a wonderful sweet flavor. Adding to its versatility, Amur F1 is ideal for canning and adding to salads. Ripening occurs 40-44 days after planting in the ground.
4. Consider planting Barvin F1, which, like the previous variety, produces abundant harvests in just 40 days. This hybrid tolerates shade and soil salinity, making it suitable for container gardening.
5. Highly reliable variety "Ekol F1" is distinguished by its flexibility, demonstrating excellent results at early, classic, and late sowing dates. Due to the genetic characteristic of the absence of bitterness, this cucumber has become a favorite among chefs. This plant is very fertile and shows excellent resistance to pests and diseases.
