What devices "eat up" a quarter of electricity in homes: no one would have thought of them
More than a quarter of all electricity in homes is consumed by computers and TVs.
Of course, this figure is an average, as in those apartments and houses with electric boilers or underfloor heating, current consumption may vary. This was reported by SSPDaily.
If we talk about a personal computer, then using it for 5 hours a day will result in spending about 20 kWh or more per month. Therefore, if you have a choice, it is better to use a laptop instead.
A TV also consumes about the same amount of electricity. But if you have a powerful gaming computer or a large TV, consumption can increase to 80 kWh and 30 kWh per month, respectively. Therefore, it is better to always turn off the TV when you are not watching it.
The third-largest consumer of electricity in a home is refrigerators, at about 30 kWh per month.
If you use your washing machine twice a week and turn it on for one hour, it consumes about 17-25 kWh per month.
A very interesting fact is that if you refuse to use an electric kettle, you can save about 10-22 kWh per month.
A microwave oven consumes half as much electricity on average over the same period of time. Drying your hair with a hairdryer every day consumes from 2.5 to 5.5 kWh.
