Atletico Madrid's Robin Le Normand Severely Injured After Head Collision
In a dramatic Madrid derby ending in a 1-1 draw at the Metropolitano, Atletico Madrid defender Robin Le Normand sustained a traumatic brain injury. The 27-year-old collided with Real Madrid's Aurelien Tchouameni during stoppage time and received prompt medical attention on the pitch. Although he was initially able to finish the match, further examinations revealed a serious injury. This is prepared by SSP.
Atletico Madrid's club statement disclosed, "Robin Le Normand suffered a severe blow to the head in the final minutes of the Madrid derby, for which he underwent a series of tests. Specialists confirmed that he has a traumatic brain injury with subdural haematoma, bleeding caused by a burst blood vessel near the brain."
Le Normand, who joined Atletico from Real Sociedad during the summer, will adhere to the prescribed protocols for this type of trauma before returning to action. He was part of the Spain squad that won Euro 2024 and played in the final against England in Berlin.
As Atletico prepares for their upcoming Champions League match against Benfica and a La Liga game against Real Sociedad, Le Normand will be sidelined. The club's medical team will continue to monitor his recovery closely.
