Bayern 'Positive' Over Kane Injury
Bayern Munich reported a "positive" initial diagnosis for Harry Kane's ankle injury after he limped off during the 1-1 draw against Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday, BBC reported. England captain Kane, 31, sustained the injury in the 86th minute of the Bundesliga match at Allianz Arena due to a challenge by Leverkusen’s Amine Adli.
Following a medical examination on Sunday, Bayern stated that Kane "suffered a painful blow to his ankle," but the results revealed a positive development. Despite not registering a single shot during the match, Bayern's dominance was evident when Aleksandar Pavlovic's brilliant 25-yard strike canceled out Robert Andrich's earlier goal.
Bayern remain hopeful that Kane will be fit for their Champions League clash against Aston Villa, scheduled for Wednesday. Kane also expressed optimism about his recovery, mentioning the injury felt "sore" but not "too bad." He expects to be ready for the upcoming match at Villa Park.
While Vincent Kompany's team stays at the top of the table, two points ahead of RB Leipzig and three ahead of current champions Leverkusen, they continue to manage key player injuries. During the match, Bayern had additional close calls, with Serge Gnabry hitting the post and crossbar in quick succession, Alphonso Davies shooting wide, and Konrad Laimer narrowly missing the target.
To prevent speculation, Bayern released a statement confirming tests showed no significant damage, with Kane continuing to receive appropriate treatment. The team, as well as fans, are hopeful he will return fit against Aston Villa.
