Cameron Norrie Withdraws from US Open
British number two, Cameron Norrie, announced his withdrawal from the 2024 US Open owing to a persistent forearm injury that had earlier kept him out of the Paris Olympic Games, Euro Sport reported.
The 28-year-old, who recently suffered a defeat to Rafael Nadal in the Swedish Open's last 16 and had cancellations at both the Canadian Open and Cincinnati Open, expressed his disappointment on Instagram, stating the injury has not allowed him to sufficiently prepare for the season's final Grand Slam in New York.
Norrie mentioned his efforts to regain full health but admitted that the injury had not healed as quickly as he had hoped, and as a result, he would be unable to participate in the US Open. He added, however, that he is looking forward to taking some rest and recharging before getting back to competing.
Following Andy Murray’s retirement, Jack Draper and Dan Evans are the only British men in the main draw for the US Open, which starts on August 26.
