Chiefs Continue Winning Streak After Beating Saints
The Kansas City Chiefs continued their unbeaten streak in the NFL, maintaining a 5-0 record, by defeating the New Orleans Saints 26-13 at home. The Chiefs now stand alongside the Minnesota Vikings as the only undefeated teams through the first five weeks. This is prepared by SSP.
Kareem Hunt contributed with a five-yard rushing touchdown, helping the Chiefs jump to an early 10-0 lead, while kicker Harrison Butker added four field goals throughout the game, keeping the Chiefs ahead on the scoreboard. Though the Chiefs faced some red zone challenges—scoring one touchdown and kicking three field goals in five attempts—Xavier Worthy secured the win with a three-yard rushing touchdown late in the game.
For the Saints, Rashid Shaheed caught a 43-yard touchdown pass from Derek Carr in the first half. Carr also connected with Foster Moreau in the fourth quarter to close the gap to a three-point deficit. However, this ultimately led to their third defeat in five outings for the season. Carr was sidelined with an oblique injury in the fourth quarter, adding concerns for the Saints' future performance. Meanwhile, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes didn't throw any touchdown passes but achieved 331 yards, completing 28 of 39 attempts.
The Chiefs head into a bye week before facing the San Francisco 49ers on October 20, a rematch of their overtime victory in Super Bowl 58 last February.
