Clark Vows to Return Stronger After Indiana Play-off Loss
Caitlin Clark is optimistic about returning even stronger next season after the Connecticut Sun defeated the Indiana Fever 87-81, ending her aspirations for a WNBA Championship title in her rookie year, BBC reported. The 22-year-old, the top pick in the 2023 draft from the University of Iowa, set multiple rookie records this season: 337 assists, 769 points, and 122 three-pointers.
In game two of the first-round play-off series, Clark contributed significantly with 25 points and nine assists, playing every minute. Despite her best efforts, she couldn't prevent the Sun from winning the best-of-three series 2-0. The Sun will now face the Minnesota Lynx in the semi-finals, while Clark heads into the off-season focused on improvement.
"I feel like I'm just scratching the surface," Clark noted, reflecting on her rookie season, "I nit-pick every single thing I do. There's a lot of room for me to improve, and I'm committed to helping this franchise and my teammates get even better."
The Fever faced an uphill battle in Connecticut, trailing by 14 points in the fourth quarter but managing to tie the game with just over two minutes left. However, the Sun, propelled by Alyssa Thomas's 19 points and 13 assists, regained the lead in the final moments to secure a spot in the last four.
