Injured Arsenal Winger Saka Leaves England Squad
Bukayo Saka has withdrawn from the England squad due to a right leg injury suffered during Thursday's Nations League match against Greece and has returned to Arsenal for further assessment. The Arsenal winger, who was a consistent figure this season with three goals in 10 appearances, was replaced by Noni Madueke shortly after Greece scored through Vangelis Palvidis at Wembley, Sky Sports reported.
Interim England manager Lee Carsley mentioned that Saka indicated discomfort in his leg during the build-up to Greece's first goal. Consequently, Arsenal's manager, Mikel Arteta, is now faced with the potential absence of Saka, adding to concerns for the Gunners who will play against Bournemouth away on 19 October, the first fixture following the international break.
Apart from Saka, Curtis Jones of Liverpool also withdrew from the squad for personal reasons, while Harry Kane and Jack Grealish resumed training post minor knocks which kept them out of the match against Greece. England's remaining 22-man squad is set to fly to Helsinki for Sunday's game against Finland at 17:00 BST, and they currently stand second in League B Group 2 with six points from their three matches.
