Nottingham Forest Complete Signing of Portuguese Forward Silva
Nottingham Forest secures signing of Portuguese winger Jota Silva from Vitória de Guimarães for an initial fee of €7m, The Guardian reported. The deal includes potential add-ons that could amount to €12 if certain performance criteria are met, including Jota playing more than 15 games and scoring 10 goals. Additionally, Vitória holds a 20% sell-on clause.
Jota Silva joins Nuno Espírito Santo's squad as the sixth new addition this summer, alongside Carlos Miguel, Nikola Milenkovic, Eric da Silva Moreira, Elliot Anderson, and Marko Stamenic.
Bringing in 83 appearances for Vitória over two seasons and scoring 20 goals, Jota's rise has drawn comparisons to Jack Grealish. His impressive performances resulted in a call-up to Portugal's national team, where he made his international debut in friendly matches against Sweden and Slovenia earlier this year. Despite interest from Krasnodar in Russia and Panathanaikos in Greece, as well as initial speculation regarding a potential move to West Ham, Nottingham Forest secured Jota's signature.
The decision to sign Jota aligns with Nuno's previous remarks on addressing Forest's lack of depth in wide areas. His statement emphasized the need for wingers, noting that Callum Hudson-Odoi and Anthony Elanga were the only natural options within the squad.
Furthermore, Pascal Gross has completed a transfer from Brighton to Borussia Dortmund, being hailed as Brighton's "greatest-ever Premier League signing." Gross's impressive 261 appearances for Brighton over a seven-year period earned him this distinction. Brighton chairman Tony Bloom expressed praise for Gross's contributions on and off the pitch, underscoring the player's significance to the club.
Finally, Ipswich Town has secured the signing of full-back Conor Townsend from West Brom on a two-year deal for an undisclosed fee.
