Saudi Striker Fahad Al-Muwallad Hospitalized Following Balcony Fall
Saudi Arabian international Fahad Al-Muwallad, aged 30, is currently in intensive care after an accident where he fell from the balcony of his second-floor apartment in Dubai. The incident happened on Thursday at his residence, as confirmed by both Al-Muwallad's club, Al-Shabab, and local police. This is prepared by SSP.
Authorities are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the fall, and the relevant findings will be communicated once the investigations are complete. The Saudi consulate in Dubai has acknowledged the incident, stating that they were informed early Sunday and are closely monitoring police investigations.
Prior to his stint with Al-Shabab, Al-Muwallad commenced his career with Al-Ittihad and then spent time on loan at Spanish club Levante, where he played two matches in 2018. He also represented Saudi Arabia in the 2018 World Cup and has played 78 international matches.
However, Al-Muwallad’s career has seen its share of controversies, particularly related to doping violations. He was dropped from the 2022 World Cup squad due to a ban and has served two suspensions - one in 2019 and another from March 2022 to September 2023, after testing positive for a banned diuretic, furosemide.
His club, Al-Shabab, stated that their captain has traveled to Dubai to check on Al-Muwallad’s condition. Also, Saudi news source Al-Madina indicated there might be "criminal suspicions" connected to the fall, citing unverified sources.
Al-Muwallad's current team at Al-Shabab includes notable players like former Wolves forward Daniel Podence and Belgian international Yannick Carrasco, underlining his prominence in the squad.
