Tottenham Hotspur Signs Australian Defender Clare Hunt on a Three-Year Deal

Tottenham Hotspur has successfully signed Australian international defender Clare Hunt from Paris St-Germain on a three-year contract, effective until 2027, One Football reported. Hunt, who previously had a contract with PSG until 2026, comes as a significant addition to Spurs. The Lilywhites made an official announcement via a press release about the 25-year-old center-back’s arrival.

Hunt spent one season with PSG, recording 13 appearances in the French Arkema Première Ligue. She was instrumental in PSG’s campaign last season, contributing to their status as league runners-up and aiding in their Coupe de France Féminine victory. Before her tenure in France, she played domestically with Canberra United for five years and had a two-year stint with Western Sydney Warriors in Australia.

Internationally, Hunt has appeared 23 times for Australia. She participated in the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 on home soil and represented Australia at this summer’s Olympic Games in France. Her transition to Tottenham was a move long-targeted by the club, initiated before her signing with PSG last year. Spurs manager Robert Vilahamn even attended the Olympics to watch Hunt in action against the USA.

This acquisition makes Hunt the third signing for Tottenham during the summer transfer window. The club previously secured full-backs Amanda Nildén and Ella Morris. Additionally, Barbora Votikova, a Czech Republic goalkeeper who joined Spurs in August 2023 after her PSG contract expired and made 11 appearances last season, has departed to join Slavia Prague.

As the new season approaches, Tottenham may continue to strengthen their squad, with head coach Robert Vilahamn anticipating further additions.
