Tottenham Hotspurs Manager Postecoglou Confident in Second-Year Succes
Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou expressed confidence in his statement, "I always win things in my second year," following their 1-0 north London derby defeat to Arsenal. Gabriel’s header from a corner secured the victory for the Gunners, leaving Spurs with only one win out of their four Premier League matches this season.
Entering his second season with Tottenham after a fifth-place finish last year, Postecoglou, who previously managed Celtic, reaffirmed during a Sky Sports interview: "I don’t usually win things, I always win things in my second year. Nothing’s changed. I don’t say things unless I believe them."
Despite their last triumph being the 2008 League Cup, Postecoglou remains optimistic about their chances this season. His track record includes winning the Australian title with South Melbourne and Brisbane Roar, the Japanese league with Yokohama F Marinos, and the Asian Cup with Australia, all in his second season or thereafter. Additionally, he achieved back-to-back Scottish championships with Celtic.
BBC Radio 5 Live analyst and former England defender Matt Upson commented on Tottenham's current struggles, highlighting their defensive weaknesses and lack of clinical finishing. Upson warns that pressure on Postecoglou might escalate if these issues persist.
