AC Milan Bolster Attack with Alvaro Morata Signing from Atletico Madrid
AC Milan completed the signing of Spain striker Álvaro Morata from Atletico Madrid, securing him on a four-year contract with the option to extend for an additional year, according to ACM. The Serie A club utilized Morata's release clause, which was around £11m. This move comes after the 31-year-old led Spain to victory in the Euro 2024 tournament held earlier this month.
Starting his career at Real Madrid, Morata also had stints with Juventus and Chelsea. During his time at these clubs, he achieved notable success, winning the Champions League on two occasions with Real Madrid and also clinching the Italian Serie A title twice with Juventus. Additionally, Morata lifted the FA Cup trophy during his spell with Chelsea.
Scoring a total of 36 goals in 80 matches for the Spanish national team, Morata brings his goal-scoring prowess and experience to AC Milan. His impressive performances made him a key forward option for Spain, as evidenced by his captaincy during their successful Euro 2024 campaign.
AC Milan's acquisition of Morata is part of their ambitious plans to strengthen their squad. They now have a new focal point in their attack, as Morata fills the void left by Olivier Giroud, who recently joined Los Angeles FC. The Spanish striker will wear the coveted No. 7 jersey for Milan, taking on a significant role within the team.
With the appointment of Paulo Fonseca as the new coach, Milan hopes to revitalize their squad after finishing a considerable 19 points behind Serie A champions Inter Milan last season. This signing represents a step towards rebuilding and competing at the top level once again.
Earlier, SSP wrote that Chelsea acquired England defender Lucy Bronze on a free transfer.
