Atletico Madrid has secured the signing of Real Sociedad's Spanish defender, Robin Le Normand
Atletico Madrid have successfully secured the signing of Spanish defender Robin le Normand from Real Sociedad, in line with their aims to strengthen their squad, NY Times reported. Le Normand, who represented Spain in their victorious Euro 2024 campaign, will be joining Atletico in the coming days once he concludes his holiday period.
Real Sociedad expressed their agreement to transfer Le Normand and acknowledged his contributions to the team since his arrival in 2016. The central defender played a pivotal role in the club's triumph in the Copa del Rey during the 2019-20 season, as well as their impressive performance reaching the Champions League round of 16 in the 2023-24 campaign.
Le Normand's transfer fee to Atletico Madrid is expected to reach approximately €34.5million, ensuring a long-term commitment from the 27-year-old player.
This signing comes at a time when Atletico Madrid has witnessed several departures, including central defenders Caglar Soyuncu, Stefan Savic, and Gabriel Paulista, along with the likes of striker Alvaro Morata, who joined AC Milan, and midfielder Saul Niguez, who moved to Sevilla on a season-long loan deal.
It is evident that Atletico Madrid is actively reshaping their squad during this transfer window, and the acquisition of Robin le Normand promises to solidify their defense and provide ample support in their upcoming season.
