British Number Two Withdraws from US Open
British number two Cameron Norrie has announced his withdrawal from the 2024 US Open because of a persistent forearm injury that has troubled him since mid-July. This same injury had also prevented Norrie from representing Team GB at the Paris 2024 Olympics. This is prepared by SSP
Having reached No. 47 in the PIF ATP Rankings, Norrie’s most recent competitive match was during the Nordea Open in Bastad, where he lost to Rafael Nadal with a score of 6-4, 6-4, marking Nadal’s return from his own injury. Norrie expressed on Instagram his intent to take some rest and recharge, adding that he "can't wait to get back to competing."
With Andy Murray's retirement, Jack Draper and Dan Evans remain the only British men in the main draw in New York. Previously, Norrie had reached the third round of the US Open last year, losing to Matteo Arnaldi, and his best result at the event was in 2022, where he advanced to the fourth round before being defeated by Andrey Rublev.
The final Grand Slam of the year will begin on 26 August.
