Chicago Cubs pitcher breaks his hand after punching dugout wall in frustration
Colten Brewer, a pitcher for the Chicago Cubs, encountered a setback as he suffered a broken hand after impulsively punching the dugout wall out of frustration. During Saturday's game against the Los Angeles Angels, Brewer entered the match in the third inning as a relief pitcher while the Angels held a 2-0 lead. Unfortunately, his performance faltered, and the Angels extended their lead to 5-0 before ultimately winning 7-0. This is prepared by SSP.
Brewer was only able to secure two outs and was held responsible for three runs, one of which was earned, resulting from two hits, two walks, and a hit batter. In his frustration, he struck the dugout wall with his left hand, and as a result, the Cubs decided to place him on the 60-day injured list.
The 31-year-old Brewer, who joined the Cubs' major league roster back in April, has thus far made 16 relief appearances with the team in his first season. With Brewer sidelined, the Cubs have called up Hunter Bigge, a 26-year-old right-hander from the Iowa Cubs. Although Bigge has yet to make his debut in the major league, he will be given the opportunity to contribute to the team.
