Egyptian Wrestler Arrested in Paris Amid Assault Allegations
Egyptian Olympic wrestler Mohamed 'Kesho' Ibrahim has been arrested in Paris on allegations of sexual assault. French prosecutors detailed that on August 9, around 5 am, a 26-year-old wrestler from Egypt, born in March 1998, was detained near the Oz cafe after reportedly groping a woman from behind. The Egyptian Olympic Committee (EOC) identified the arrested athlete as Kesho, who secured a bronze medal at the Tokyo 2020 Games. This is prepared by SSP.
The EOC announced that Kesho will be scrutinized by its ethics committee and potentially face severe repercussions, including a permanent ban from both national and international competitions if the accusations prove valid. The incident occurred following Kesho's loss to Azerbaijan's Hasrat Jafarov in the first round of the men's 67 kg Greco-Roman wrestling on Wednesday. He had been granted permission to leave the team's camp to attend the final match in his category but did not return as expected and had switched off his phone.
Additionally, Mohamed Ibrahim El-Sayed, known for being a five-time African champion and a two-time under-23 world champion, will be subject to further investigations by the sport's governing body due to his "irresponsible behavior" shortly after his last Olympic bout.
