Fulham Sign Sander Berge from Burnley for £25 Million
Fulham have secured the signing of Burnley midfielder Sander Berge in a £25 million deal, Sky Sports reported. The Norway international has inked a five-year contract at Craven Cottage, with an option for a one-year extension. The initial payment is £20 million, with £5 million in potential add-ons, aligning with a similar offer Fulham made for Manchester United's Scott McTominay.
Berge, 26, moved to Burnley from Sheffield United in 2023 and earned the title of Clarets' player of the year, despite their relegation. However, he has not featured in Burnley's Championship games this season due to injury. Manchester United showed interest in Berge, maintaining discussions with Burnley before Fulham outpaced them post the club-record sale of Joao Palhinha to Bayern Munich.
"It's fantastic," expressed Berge. "It's been a little back and forth in recent weeks, but I’m thrilled to be here at this beautiful stadium, knowing my future is secured."
Fulham has welcomed three additional signings this transfer window: Emile Smith Rowe, Jorge Cuenca, and Ryan Sessegnon.
Berge, who racked up 37 appearances for Burnley last season and has been capped 46 times for Norway, praised Fulham: "They've always been an exciting team for me, having played against them both in the Championship and Premier League. Their dominant and aggressive play style in formations like 4-3-3 and 4-2-3-1 suits me well."
