RB Leipzig Dani Olmo Joins Barcelona For £429m
Barcelona have announced the signing of Spanish playmaker Dani Olmo from RB Leipzig, marking his return to the club where he played at youth level. The 26-year-old midfielder joins Barcelona on a six-year contract, expiring on June 30, 2030, with a release clause of 500 million euros (£429m). This transfer deal is reported to be worth around 60 million euros (£51m). This is prepared by SSP.
Olmo's journey has come full circle since he left Barcelona's La Masia academy at age 16 to join Croatia's Dinamo Zagreb in 2014. He moved to RB Leipzig in 2020, where he developed into a world-class talent, winning two German Cups with the club.
Barcelona highlighted Olmo's individual talent and his ability to integrate with teammates in their statement. His skills were particularly evident at Euro 2024, where he was the joint top-scorer with three goals, helping Spain secure their fourth title in the tournament. "Olmo stands out for his individual talent and his ability to link up with his team-mates. He has a nose for goal as he showed in Euro 2024 and can score from inside and outside the penalty area," said Barcelona.
In a heartfelt message on X, Olmo expressed gratitude towards RB Leipzig, reflecting on their shared achievements: "A young club, a young player. We grew up, won our first trophies and made history together. Thank you RB Leipzig, you'll forever be in my heart."
With his return to Barcelona, Olmo aims to make an impact under Hansi Flick’s project, continuing his outstanding form and contributing to Barcelona's future successes.
