Ronda Rousey Publicly Apologizes for Sharing Sandy Hook Conspiracy
Ronda Rousey, a former UFC and WWE star, has issued an apology for posting a conspiracy video about the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary shooting, US Weekly reported. In a heartfelt statement, she described it as "the single most regrettable decision" of her life. Rousey initially shared the video in January 2013, soon after the tragic event where 26 people, including 20 children, were killed.
Reflecting on her actions, Rousey, now 37, admitted she was so horrified by the event that she clung to an alternative narrative, despite not believing it herself. She quickly removed the post but acknowledged the damage was irreversible. While she attempted to apologize in her memoir, "Our Fight," it was removed by publishers.
During a recent Reddit AMA, Rousey was inundated with questions regarding her controversial post. Addressing the issue, she expressed profound regret: "I apologize that this came 11 years too late," she wrote. "To those affected by the Sandy Hook massacre, from the bottom of my heart and depth of my soul, I am so, so sorry for the hurt I caused." She added that she has regretted her action every day and will continue to do so for the rest of her life.
Rousey emphasized the additional harm of indulging in conspiracy theories, stating, "They will only make you feel powerless, afraid, miserable, and isolated. You're doing nothing but hurting others and yourself." She urged others to avoid the pitfalls of such conspiracies and to stop digging deeper into erroneous beliefs.
