Tottenham Welcome Maite Oroz from Real Madrid
Tottenham Hotspur has signed Spain midfielder Maite Oroz from Real Madrid on the Women's Super League transfer deadline day. The 26-year-old has committed to a four-year contract with Spurs, pending international clearance and a work visa. Oroz, one of Real Madrid’s founding players for their 2020/2021 finetwork Liga F season, has played a crucial role at The Whites, amassing 110 league appearances, scoring 12 goals, and significantly contributing to Real Madrid’s UEFA Women’s Champions League campaigns over the last three seasons. This is prepared by SSP.
Oroz, who began her senior career with Osasuna before moving to Athletic Club for six years following Osasuna's dissolution in 2014, made 146 appearances with co-captaincy at Real Madrid. She made her mark in Spain’s league and thereby was called up to the Spanish national team in 2021, securing 15 caps and scoring four goals thus far. Notably, she was a UEFA Women's Nations League champion with Spain this year and has achievements at youth levels, aiding Spain’s victories in the UEFA Women’s Under-17 and Under-19 Championships in 2015 and 2017, respectively.
Oroz is Tottenham's seventh permanent signing of the summer following Clare Hunt, Ella Morris, Hayley Raso, Amanda Nilden, and Anna Csiki, significantly bolstering their squad for the upcoming season.
