BenQ GV50: Elevating Home Cinema Experiences from Bed
Wouldn't it be wonderful to experience a superb home cinema without leaving the comfort of your bed? The new BenQ GV50 smart laser projector makes this possible, designed specifically for ceiling projection to cater to "laid-back movie nights at bedtime," according to BenQ President Peter YF Huang. The GV50 allows for big-screen entertainment without the need for a massive TV, delivering up to 120 inches of projection while requiring minimal space—small enough for a bedside table.
Despite its compact size of 130 x 211.2 x 191.4mm (5.12 x 8.31 x 7.54 inches) and weighing just 2.1kg (4.6lbs), it includes an 18W 2.1 Dolby Audio-compatible speaker setup. Running on Google TV OS, it supports all major streaming apps as well as Google Assistant and Google Cast. The projector delivers 1080p resolution, 500 ANSI Lumens brightness, 100,000:1 contrast, and HDR10/HLG, paired with integrated 4W drivers and a 10W subwoofer. It can be used on battery for 150 minutes or serve as a Bluetooth speaker.
A standout feature is the "Ceiling Cinema Sound Mode," designed for a lying-down viewing angle to optimize sound delivery by preventing muffling from bedding. The GV50 supports both automatic keystone correction and intelligent setup, accommodating a 40 to 120-inch image starting from just under five feet away. Offering a latency of 22.4ms over HDMI for gaming, it allows a lifespan of the light source up to 30,000 hours.
BenQ emphasized ultimate convenience and experience, making the GV50 perfect for personalized, cozy viewing spaces. Its significant 135° vertical and 360° horizontal projection range allows fine control of viewing angles. Enhanced by features like digital zoom and 360° image rotation, viewers can comfortably watch from any position. The Night Shift Mode further enhances comfort by reducing eye strain and including a sleep timer.
Fulfilling its function as an all-in-one entertainment system, the GV50 integrates Google TV and licensed Netflix, along with USB-C data transmission and DisplayPort output. It also supports mobile device and Nintendo Switch charging, alongside extensive battery life for both video and Bluetooth music playback.
Set to launch soon in the UK and priced at $599 in the US (approximately £466 or AU$903), the BenQ GV50 redefines home cinema by delivering exceptional audiovisual quality, superior service standards, and hassle-free, luxury viewing directly from your bed.
