Google Photos Introduces New Image-Flipping Feature
Google Photos, renowned for its comprehensive photo backup solutions and powerful editing options, has introduced a new and handy image-flipping feature. Although previously missing from its array of tools, this flip option is now being added to the Crop section within the editing tools of the app.
Thanks to this update, users can now flip or mirror their images and videos horizontally, preserving the originals by saving the edits as copies. Initially limited to a handful of users, Google plans to make this feature available to everyone via a server-side update in the coming days. Regrettably, this functionality is currently confined to the mobile app and is unavailable on the web version of Google Photos.
Previously, Google Photos allowed users to crop, rotate, and adjust the aspect ratio of their images but omitted the basic flip function. This new addition fills that gap and proves particularly useful for those looking to quickly flip selfies without utilizing camera settings on their phones.
While the introduction of the flip tool is a positive step, users have expressed a desire for even more non-AI tools in Google Photos. Features such as batch editing, custom presets for consistent edits across multiple images, and a lasso tool for targeted modifications remain absent. However, recent updates have also enhanced the app's AI capabilities, adding tools like Magic Eraser, Photo Unblur, and improved search functionalities through descriptive language in queries.
Google Photos' continuous updates aim to provide flexibility and advanced tools to billions of users worldwide, reinforcing its place as a top choice for managing, editing, and sharing photos and videos across devices, particularly on Android.
