Las Vegas Raiders star receiver Davante Adams requests trade, per multiple reports
Las Vegas Raiders’ wide receiver, Davante Adams, has requested a trade, with multiple reports suggesting his top choice is the New York Jets, where he could reunite with his friend and fellow player Aaron Rodgers. However, Adams has expressed openness to other teams as well, including the New Orleans Saints, Pittsburgh Steelers, Baltimore Ravens, Buffalo Bills, Dallas Cowboys, and potentially the San Francisco 49ers. While Adams prefers these destinations, he hasn't issued demands similar to Rodgers’ situation with the Packers.
Rumors began on Monday after Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce allegedly interacted with a speculated post about Adams’ potential departure. Though Adams confirmed his openness to being traded, he specified no direct communication with Pierce about the matter. Negotiations have been preliminary in nature, and no trade deal is imminent, especially as Adams continues to recover from a hamstring injury, which also caused him to miss Las Vegas’ Week 4 win over the Cleveland Browns.
Load management concerns regarding contract adjustments and team benefits have influenced trade discussions. The Raiders have reportedly asked for a second-round pick as a key component in any trade deal after acquiring him in 2022 with a first and second-round pick from the Green Bay Packers. Adams has two years remaining on his contract after the current season, with significant, non-guaranteed financial compensation for 2025 and 2026.
Adams, 31, remains a top position player with substantial interest from other teams. Currently, he has an $16.8 million salary with slight raises due at $35.6 million and $36.6 million in upcoming years. Adams continues to perform admirably, despite some physical setbacks this season. This consistency over his NFL tenure, including four consecutive seasons accruing over 1,000 receiving yards, pegs him as a hot prospect among contenders in the NFL trade scenario.
