Samsung Galaxy Ring Faces New Crowdfunded Rival with Unique Health-Tracking Feature

Our smart ring guide is in for a significant update as the Samsung Galaxy Ring's release draws attention to these compact devices. Joining the fray is a crowdfunded smart ring from Moov, which differentiates itself with an advanced health-tracking capability.

Moov's Indiegogo campaign has far exceeded its $5,000 target, amassing $95,923 as of now. The campaign is open until Monday, September 2, and shipping starts in December 2024.

The Moov Ring's popularity, comparable to the RingConn Gen 2, is likely due to its promise of continuous blood pressure monitoring. This is a feature many tech firms aim to incorporate into wearables and is not currently available on the existing Galaxy Ring or Oura Ring. The device boasts a development period of a decade and integrates photoplethysmography sensors and advanced algorithms for its health-tracking abilities, underpinned by expertise in hypertension and data analytics.

A Different Take on Moov

Beyond blood pressure, the Moov Ring tracks sleep, stress levels, skin temperature, steps, and heart rate. The ring offers up to seven days of battery life and a subscription-free companion app that monitors health and fitness metrics, providing useful insights for improvement.

This iteration of Moov appears distinct from the company behind the now-defunct Moov Now fitness tracker, which closed a few years ago. None of the original team is associated with the new smart ring or the present Moov website.

The Moov Ring, retailing at $299 (£235 / AU$455), is currently available for an early bird price of $239 (£185 / AU$360). As with all crowdfunded projects, there is a risk involved, so ensure you trust Moov with your investment or consider waiting until it is widely available.
