Aaron Ashmore Secretly Divorced Zoë Kate After Nearly a Decade Together

Actor Aaron Ashmore has disclosed the quiet end of his marriage to Zoë Kate after nearly ten years together. During a March 25 episode of the "Inside of You" podcast, Ashmore, 45, detailed some of the toughest challenges he faced during his life.
Ashmore reflected on his struggles during the COVID pandemic, sharing, "We had a brand new baby and my dad was at home with a three-year-old and a newborn. Then my dad got ill and passed away. Eight months later, my wife and I decided to split up." He expressed how this difficult period lasted two and a half years, marked by grief for his father and the end of his marriage.

The actor described that the challenges seemed relentless. Host Michael Rosenbaum asked if they attended therapy prior to their breakup. Ashmore replied that they sought counseling before calling it quits. "My ex is a therapist, so there was a lot of encouragement to do therapy — and so we did," he said.
Reflecting on his relationship, Ashmore emphasized that they "did our due diligence" before separating. He noted, "We were in therapy for about a year before deciding it just wasn’t going to work. I did some therapy afterward as well."
Recently, Ashmore has succeeded in moving forward but acknowledged previously facing challenges. "A year and a half ago, we had to sell the house I loved, where one of my kids was born. I just couldn’t afford to keep it. That hit me hard for about three to four months," he elaborated. As a father of two, the loss represented a significant emotional impact, marking a genuine end to their life together.

He stated, "This is finite. There’s nothing left of [the relationship]. The kids are of course here, but [in terms of] our life together, that flipped me out for two or three months. I struggled immensely."
Aaron acknowledged his twin brother, actor Shawn Ashmore, for his support during this time. "Luckily, my brother came and helped me. He said, ‘Dude, you’re in a rough patch.’ Sometimes you don’t expect these feelings to hit you," Ashmore admitted.
The actor expressed confusion regarding his emotional state. He shared, "This happened a year and a half ago, or two years ago — the big challenging moments. Why am I feeling like this now?" He explained the struggles of understanding the mind, even recalling times he found himself overwhelmed, such as crying unexpectedly in a grocery store.
