Aaron Hernandez’s Fiancée and Daughter Share Tribute to the Late NFL Player

Shayanna Jenkins, Aaron Hernandez’s fiancée, commemorated the former NFL star nearly eight years after his passing. She shared a heartfelt family tribute featuring a touching image of their daughter, Avielle, 12. The photo showcased Avielle in church alongside a 2012 picture of Hernandez, who died by suicide at age 27 while serving a life sentence for first-degree murder.
"Celebrated our love for you privately. Never forgotten, always embraced," Shayanna captioned her emotional post on Instagram, which she shared on March 22. She included angel and dove emojis to enhance the sentiment.
A Shared Moment
In March 2024, Shayanna also shared an image of Avielle wearing a lovely ensemble—a white dress and veil — standing with her younger sister, Giselle, 6. Giselle is not Aaron’s child but is part of their family dynamic.
Since Hernandez’s death, Shayanna, 35, has paid tribute to him on several occasions. In a 2022 Instagram post, she stated, "You left this world, but not my heart." Along with the message came several pictures, one showing Aaron cuddling their infant daughter in bed. She included hashtags "#AH81" and "#alwaysandforever."
Recollections of Grief
In April 2017, Aaron was discovered deceased in a Massachusetts prison cell. He was serving time for the murder of Odin Lloyd, a semi-professional player and the boyfriend of Shayanna's sister, Shaneah Jenkins.
A year later, in 2018, Shayanna expressed her profound sense of loss in an emotional tribute on social media. "I remember getting a call saying you had passed," she recounted. "I dropped the phone and cried uncontrollably, not knowing what to do. I wanted to reach you to ensure you weren’t alone."
Her heartfelt message continued with, "I was and still am so confused. I wish I could ask you so many questions — not just for me but for our daughter. I've experienced pain, sadness, and anger. However, I’ve had this little girl to lift my spirits."
Shayanna expressed gratitude towards Aaron for enabling her to create memories with Avielle, stating, "Your legacy will live on until we meet again."
