Actress Chanel Maya Banks Addresses Allegations of Harrowing Disappearance
Chanel Maya Banks, known for her roles in "Gossip Girl" and "Blue Bloods," clarified her reported disappearance. She stated, "I had to take myself out of a bad situation," emphasizing that many others might relate.
Recently, Banks’ family claimed she was missing, citing a lack of communication since late October. They also accused her husband, referred to as "CJ" on her TikTok, of not assisting in their search efforts.
"Currently, you see two individuals, my mother and cousin, whom I haven't talked to in ten years," Banks said. She further noted that her only recent interaction was a brief phone call three weeks ago during her cousin's visit with her mother. Banks expressed, "This is not someone with whom I have a relationship."
Earlier this week, Banks’ cousin, Danielle-Tori Singh, remarked on social media that they enjoyed a best-friend relationship. In response, Banks clarified, "We definitely don’t have a sister-sister relationship." She highlighted that her recent actions stemmed from her successful efforts to leave her past behind.
According to Banks, she departed from her previous situation "exactly seven days ago." She noted, "I haven’t been missing for three weeks," explaining she had initially left for a religious baptism. Banks reiterated her independence saying, "I’m an adult woman. I don’t have to call my mother every day." In recent months, she felt more freedom and was able to prepare for her departure.
Banks speculated that her decision to leave caught her mother off guard. "Each time I've attempted to escape, she comes to my house," Banks recounted. She significantly highlighted how every failed attempt led to aggressive responses, stating, "Cops will come after me so ardently."
To date, Banks' mother and cousin have not publicly addressed her claims.
