Adam Brody Reflects on his Growing Fame After "Nobody Wants This"
Adam Brody expresses awareness of increased attention following the success of his recent rom-com, "Nobody Wants This." After a season 2 renewal, he received his first Golden Globe nomination for his role in the popular Netflix series.
At the Golden Globes First-Time Nominees Luncheon on December 17, Brody, 45, shared his experience with The Hollywood Reporter. He remarked, "I’ve gotten a lot of interesting stuff. My email is fuller than it was."
In the series created by Erin Foster, Brody stars alongside Kristen Bell, who plays Joanne, a single and agnostic sex podcaster seeking love. Their romance begins when Joanne meets Brody’s character, Noah, a newly single rabbi, through mutual friends.
While Brody hasn’t finalized his next role, he stated, "If I’m looking to not do something, it’s probably nothing similar to the show. Quality of writing is a precious jewel, and anyone would be lucky to do it."
He also updated fans about season 2 after the show’s debut on Netflix in late September. Brody confessed, "I haven’t read [scripts]. I don’t know, and I kind of don’t want to know, just because if I know, I’ll start working on it in my head, and I don’t want to."
Despite his hesitation to think ahead, the "River Wild" star enjoyed filming the series. He shared, "It sounds cheesy, but it was so fun to film. It was such a good time with a good group of people."
Prior to his nomination, Brody, recognized in PEOPLE's 2024 Sexiest Man Alive issue, talked about his on-screen chemistry with Bell. "I knew that we had something that worked, but I had no idea the sort of wide swath of people who would enjoy it," he noted, recalling his surprise at their chemistry.
Brody acknowledged the nickname "the Hot Rabbi" from the show and remarked it felt "good," despite saying, "I’m truly not called it all that much to my face." He joked, "That’s mostly happening elsewhere online, so it’s like it’s happening to another person," adding with a smile, "But I’m not mad at it."
He mentioned an amusing detail from the season 1 script regarding a kiss with Bell. "I'm paraphrasing, but it said something to the effect of, ‘It’s the greatest of all time.'"
Currently, the first season of "Nobody Wants This" is available for streaming on Netflix.
