Adam Sandler Crashes the 2025 Oscars in a Hoodie and Basketball Shorts

Adam Sandler made an unforgettable entrance at the 97th Academy Awards on March 2. The actor, aged 58, surprised everyone by appearing in his iconic casual attire: a hoodie and basketball shorts. It was an eye-catching outfit choice for such a high-profile event.

During host Conan O’Brien’s opening remarks, which followed a stunning musical performance by Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, O'Brien gave Sandler a shout-out. The camera then panned to Sandler in the audience.

"You're dressed well, Adam," O’Brien said with a smile. Sandler replied playfully, "Conan, what's up? My brother, what's going on, man?" O’Brien pointedly asked, "Adam, what are you wearing?"

Sandler sported a striking blue oversized Aviator Nation hoodie paired with dark blue Adidas basketball shorts featuring black accents. In response to O'Brien’s question, Sandler quipped, "What are you doing right now?" The host then clarified, "I’m asking you what you're wearing."

Sandler dramatically reacted, declaring, "Nobody even thought about what I was wearing until you brought it up." O'Brien then joked that Sandler looked "like a guy playing video poker at 2 a.m."

Remaining unconcerned, Sandler asserted, "I like the way I look because I'm a good person. I don't care about what I wear. Did my snazzy gym shorts and fluffy sweatshirt offend you so much that you had to mock me in front of my peers?"

O'Brien, trying to hold back laughter, genuinely apologized to Sandler. "Hey, I'm sorry," he said. "Adam, I apologize."

Sandler then announced he might leave. "It's not you, no, it's not you," he assured the audience. "It's him," he pointed at O’Brien. "He's the one who caused this."

"I'm sorry. I'm sorry," the host reiterated.

Turning to the audience, Sandler extended an unusual invitation: "You are all welcome to join me for a game of five-on-five basketball at Veteran Park tonight, at midnight." Before departing, Sandler approached Timothée Chalamet, who was nominated for Best Actor for *A Complete Unknown*. He humorously exaggerated Chalamet’s last name again, which sparked laughter. He even kissed the actor on the head. 

Sandler previously joked about the pronunciation of "Chalamet" during the 2025 Golden Globe Awards. Host Nikki Glaser teased Chalamet in her opening, claiming his name sounded like something Sandler would say.
