Adele Gets Emotional Upon Spotting Celine Dion at Las Vegas Show
Adele could not contain her tears when she noticed renowned singer Céline Dion in the audience during her Las Vegas residency performance.
In a video shared by a TikTok user, the 36-year-old singer showed deep emotion as she approached Dion, 56. The moment took place at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace, a venue established in 2003 for Dion's Vegas residency, on Saturday, October 26. This emotional exchange occurred while Adele performed "When We Were Young."
The two artists shared a heartfelt embrace, with Dion gently holding Adele’s face in her hands. Dion then kissed Adele’s hand, and they exchanged whispered words before Adele walked away. Dion appeared visibly moved, wiping away her tears while her twin sons, Nelson and Eddy, 14, comforted her. She shares her children, along with son René-Charles, 23, with her late husband René Angélil.
A different video posted on X showcased Adele crying after the touching moment with Dion. Back on stage, she exclaimed, "Give it up to Ms. Céline Dion!" Instantly, the crowd erupted in cheers. Dion, visibly emotional, stood up and thanked the audience.
Adele and Dion have a history of supporting each other. Adele attended one of Dion’s Vegas performances in January 2018, wearing a Titanic hoodie during a backstage photocall. "Queen Celine! What a show, an absolute highlight of my life. Thank you for the attention to your crowd and insane humor," Adele shared on Instagram. "Happy New Year, lady."
In response, Dion posted online, expressing her delight, "Wasn’t able to do all my shows, but was thrilled that Adele came to one of them ... I love her so much!!"
Dion put her residency on hold in late 2021 and canceled several European concert dates. In December 2022, she announced her diagnosis of stiff-person syndrome, a neurological condition affecting her muscles. Speaking with People in June 2024, she described battling various challenging symptoms for 17 years prior to her diagnosis in August 2022.
"My vocal cords used to lead my way, and now I can’t even talk," Dion explained. "I struggled to walk. My kids began to notice, and I realized they had already lost a parent. I didn’t want them fearing losing me."
Dion shared her journey in the 2024 documentary I Am: Celine Dion.
Adele, a lifelong fan of Dion, also revealed in a "73 Questions" video for Vogue in 2021 that her "proudest possession" is a piece of gum from Dion.
"It’s pretty amazing," Adele told Vogue in the segment. "James Corden — a friend of mine and Carpool Karaoke host — knew I adored her. He had her spit her gum into paper, and she framed it for me."
