Aja Naomi King Celebrates Viola Davis: 'No One Does It Like You'

Aja Naomi King has heartfelt words for her former How to Get Away with Murder co-star, Viola Davis. In a recent exclusive interview with PEOPLE, King discussed her new NBC show, Grosse Pointe Garden Society, while also reflecting on Davis's impressive career.
Looking directly at the camera, King expressed her admiration for Davis, who achieved EGOT status in 2023. Davis won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony throughout her acclaimed career. "Viola, you are incredible and inspire all of us," King stated. "No one does it like you do it. You are one of a kind. You are phenomenal. We're just so grateful that we get to witness your greatness."
King and Davis appeared together for six seasons on How to Get Away with Murder from 2014 to 2020. During this time, Davis won the Emmy for outstanding lead actress in 2015 for her role as attorney Annalise Keating. King portrayed Michaela Pratt, one of Keating's law students caught up in a murder plot.
Since then, King earned an Emmy nomination in 2024 for outstanding supporting actress in a limited series. This recognition was for her role as Harriet Sloane in Apple TV+’s Lessons in Chemistry.
In 2025, King stars in NBC’s Grosse Pointe Garden Society, where she plays Catherine. The show follows four members of a suburban garden club whose lives become entangled in scandal, mischief, and a dark secret — a murder no one wants to discuss. The cast includes Melissa Fumero, Ben Rappaport, AnnaSophia Robb, Matthew Davis, Alexander Hodge, Nancy Travis, and Felix Wolfe.
