Alison Brie Shares Unique Holiday Gifting Tip
Actress Alison Brie, who has teamed up with Macy's for the holiday season, spoke to PEOPLE about her festive plans. Brie knows the challenges of holiday shopping all too well. This year, she’s taken on the role of a gift guide in Macy's new holiday campaign, aiming to assist customers in finding the perfect presents from a diverse array of brands.
"I really have spent my life shopping at Macy's," Brie shared. Growing up in South Pasadena, she fondly remembers the large Macy's on Lake Street, which became a staple for her holiday shopping. "It tapped into some holiday nostalgia for me," she added. "I still enjoy doing holiday shopping at Macy's, so it felt very authentic."
In the campaign, the *Community* actress dons a spirited red outfit. Together with her mentee, portrayed by Matt Bush, she leads viewers through a curated selection of holiday gifts and party attire. Brie appreciates Macy's comprehensive offerings, saying, "Macy's carries everything, so it's great to have a one-stop shop for the whole family—mom, dad, sister, little nephews—with all types of options."
Despite her gift guide role, Brie openly admits she hasn’t formulated her own shopping list yet. "I'll be checking out the Macy's gift guide," she stated. She values the convenience, especially for last-minute shopping. "You can go there on a mission, quickly checking off items from department to department."
Reflecting on her most sentimental gifting moments, Brie recalls sharing framed photos of her 2017 wedding to Dave Franco with family. "Nothing tops those sentimental gifts," she explained. "The year after we got married, we gave everyone framed photos. It felt really special, as some hadn't seen certain pictures."
Turning to her number one gifting tip, she suggests always including a gift receipt. "It's comforting for the recipient," Brie noted. "They know I put thought into the gift, and if it’s not to their liking, they can easily exchange it."
This year, Brie's holiday celebrations will differ. For Thanksgiving, her family has chosen to skip their traditional potluck and attend the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, where Brie will cut the ribbon. "The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade is iconic," she expressed. "The huge Snoopy balloon is unforgettable."
Macy's 2024 holiday campaign launches on October 28, showcasing diverse gifting moments, Black Friday deals, and last-minute gifting ideas throughout December.
