Andy Reid Discusses Travis Kelce's Decision Not to Retire

Andy Reid declared Travis Kelce is fully committed to the upcoming NFL season, PEOPLE reported. Following a tough 2025 Super Bowl defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles, Reid advised Kelce to take time before deciding on retirement. The coach praised Kelce as both a "great teammate and a great human being."
Before Kelce confirmed his return for the Kansas City Chiefs' 13th season, Reid shared impactful advice with him. "We had a great visit before he left," Reid stated on "The Bettor Angle" podcast. He encouraged Kelce to "get out of here" and clear his mind post-Super Bowl, emphasizing the need for reflection.
The Chiefs aimed for a third consecutive championship, but their loss prompted Kelce to consider his future. Amid much speculation, the 35-year-old football star announced on February 27 that he will return to the field. Despite conversations around his age, Reid confirmed, "He’s all in."
Reid acknowledged Kelce’s evolution as a player. While others note his age, Reid sees him as one of the game’s best tight ends. "In my eyes, he’s the best," Reid remarked, highlighting Kelce's potential to make an impact in the next season.
On March 5, during an episode of the podcast "New Heights," Travis discussed how the Super Bowl defeat influenced his decision to stay. He cited the loss as an "all-time low." Travis shared that despite the setback, his passion for football motivated his return.

"I love playing the game of football," he expressed. He believes in his ability to play at a higher level than the previous season. Reflecting on his performance during the last season, he felt he fell short of expectations.
Reid respects Kelce’s dedication to his teammates outside the sport. He noted, "Whatever he does on the field, the greatness that he has there, he’s even that much better off the field." Reid envisions a promising future for Kelce post-NFL, potentially on his coaching staff or in media.

Reid admires Kelce’s qualities, stating, "He’s one of those guys you’d love to have on your staff." The coach added, "He will thrive in media or movie markets too."
