Angelina Jolie and Daughter Zahara at Palm Springs International Film Awards
Angelina Jolie and her daughter, Zahara, made a striking appearance together at the Palm Springs International Film Awards on January 3. This marked Angelina's first public outing since finalizing her divorce from Brad Pitt. The event, held at the Palm Springs Convention Center, showcased the duo under the bright lights of the red carpet.
Angelina, 49, donned a stylish black halter-neck dress and showcased her new bangs. Zahara, 19, complemented her mother’s look in a chic white one-shoulder gown. During the ceremony, Angelina received the Desert Palm Achievement Award, Actress for her performance in the Netflix movie "Maria."
This mother-daughter outing came shortly after the news of Angelina and Brad's finalized divorce, which concluded a legal process that had lasted eight years. Angelina filed for divorce in 2016, leading to an extended legal struggle centered on their shared assets, including Château Miraval, a French winery valued at $164 million, and custody arrangements for their six children.
Angelina and Brad settled their divorce on December 30, 2022, although they have been legally single since 2019. Associating with the difficult journey, Jolie's attorney, James Simon, explained, "This is just one part of a long ongoing process that started eight years ago. Frankly, Angelina is exhausted, but she is relieved this one part is over."
Regarding their children, a source previously shared with *Us Weekly*: "Her kids are her life. Every day is a new adventure." Angelina looks forward to the lessons and ideas gained through experiences with her children.
In interviews, Angelina has expressed pride and happiness regarding Zahara. In 2017, she shared with Hello magazine, "The sound of Zahara’s laugh… She laughs with her whole body. Completely open and full of joy." Additionally, during a TIME 100 Talk in 2020, she reflected on Zahara’s heritage and qualifications.
"My daughter is from Ethiopia… I have learned so much from her. She is my family, but she is an extraordinary African woman. Her connection to her country…is something I stand back in awe of."
