Angelina Jolie Says Her Kids Are Not Interested in Acting
During a panel at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival on February 5, 2025, Angelina Jolie discussed her children's perspective on the film industry, PEOPLE reported. Despite her successful career, Jolie revealed that her six kids are not particularly interested in acting. She noted, "They’re not interested. They really don’t like any of the celebrity part of it, especially Shiloh."
As the recipient of the Maltin Modern Master Award, Jolie expressed how she wanted her children to appreciate the world of film. "I always wanted them to be around film… It's a wonderful family environment," she explained. However, she acknowledged her children's unfamiliarity with fame, describing their attitude as healthy and rational. She described the celebrity scene as "silly."
Although her children are not passionate about being in front of the camera, they show involvement in the arts without striving for Hollywood fame. Jolie highlighted that her kids — Maddox, 23, Pax, 21, Zahara, 20, Shiloh, 18, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 16 — participate in various creative endeavors. "Yes, they've been on set with me," she stated, adding that while some dance and paint, "none of them are dying to be on screen."
Two of her sons have worked behind the scenes in film. Maddox and Pax contributed to Jolie's film *Maria* by assisting as directors and photographers. Jolie emphasized starting them in this capacity helps them gain valuable experience.
Jolie's daughter, Vivienne, has also engaged in the arts by co-producing Broadway's "The Outsiders" alongside her mother in early 2024. Jolie expressed pride in Vivienne's work ethic, stating, "She'll correct me… She’s been a really tough assistant," referring to how seriously Vivienne approached her tasks.
Angelina Jolie underlined the importance of providing her children space to explore their own identities. She conveyed her hope that they can pursue what’s authentic to them without pressure to conform to their famous background. "I hope I'm giving them space to figure out who they actually are," she stated.
