Angelina Jolie Shows Off Gorgeous Beachy Curls at Maria L.A. Premiere

Angelina Jolie recently enchanted fans with her dazzling appearance at the October 26 premiere of her new film, Maria, during the AFI Film Festival in Los Angeles. Known for typically sleek hairstyles, the 49-year-old actress surprised everyone with voluminous beachy curls styled with a side part at the event. She graced the red carpet in a nude-colored silk gown paired with a dark brown shawl, completing her look with a striking red lip and manicure, subtle eye makeup with a touch of eyeshadow, bold eyeliner, and elegant drop earrings. Maria, directed by Pablo Larraín, portrays the life of legendary opera singer Maria Callas, an American-Greek soprano known for her three-octave vocal range. Jolie spent months preparing for the role by training to embody Callas, who retreated to Paris after an illustrious and tumultuous career and sadly died in 1977 at 53. The movie delves into the diva’s final days as she wrestles with her identity.

Jolie, reflecting on her connection with Callas, revealed to PEOPLE the intersection between their experiences, particularly in their shared dedication to their craft and the loneliness it sometimes entails. Angelina stated, "I'm an imperfect person, but I work very hard," acknowledging they might both see themselves as performers dedicated to their professions.

Earlier, the film premiered at the New York Film Festival, where it received a standing ovation. The movie is currently generating considerable Oscar buzz thanks to its compelling trailer. It is set to debut in select theaters on November 27 and will be available on Netflix starting December 11. Jolie, celebrated for her role in Maria, also donned a black Dolce & Gabbana gown to the Toronto Film Festival for her directed film Without Blood, joined by her son Pax, who assisted on the production.
