Ariana Grande honored The Wizard of Oz during her performance at the 2025 Oscars. She took the stage on Sunday, March 2, to sing "Defying Gravity" with her Wicked co-star, Cynthia Erivo. Grande's outfit featured a red sequin gown paired with matching shoes, nodding to Dorothy from the classic 1939 film.

At 31, Grande wore a strapless Schiaparelli Haute Couture gown adorned with red tulle accents. The gown featured a custom design by Daniel Roseberry, showcasing over 150,000 Siam sequins and cut beads, complemented by an aerodynamic tonal tulle train. A 3D trompe l’oeil vintage shoe added an extra flair to the ensemble.

Grande styled her blonde hair in a sleek bun, completing her look with soft glam makeup and signature cat-eye eyeliner. On the red carpet, she donned a soft blush pink Schiaparelli strapless bustier gown. This piece boasted a sculptural peplum waist and a voluminous skirt with more than 190,000 sequins and rhinestones, matching her sparkly necklace.

According to the brand, the gown drew inspiration from an Alberto Giacometti lamp. During red carpet interviews, Grande hinted at new music. When asked about a deluxe edition of her 2024 album, Eternal Sunshine, she remarked, "The next step is... It means it must come out."

However, she remained vague about an exact release date. "They did the Brighter Days Memory Erasure treatment to me, so I'm having trouble remembering the details," she joked. This reference was to the fictional clinic from the 2004 film Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

Grande, a first-time Academy Award nominee, is up for Best Supporting Actress. She competes against Monica Barbaro, Felicity Jones, Isabella Rossellini, and Zoe Saldaña to win the coveted award.

Working with her stylist Mimi Cuttrell, Grande has been showcasing Glinda-inspired outfits throughout the awards season.
