Ariana Grande Responds to Elvira's "Disrespectful" Accusation
Ariana Grande is taking steps to address a recent accusation made by the horror hostess Elvira, known as Cassandra Peterson. After Elvira claimed that Grande was "disrespectful" at one of her shows, the Wicked star offered a sincere apology on social media.
Elvira shared an account of their interaction during a Q&A at Knott’s Berry Farm in Buena Park, California, on October 18. She described how Grande arrived with 20 guests, stating, "She wanted 21 tickets. We’re like, ‘OK.’" According to Elvira, once backstage, Grande requested photos with her group. The Gothic icon posed for pictures and signed autographs but felt disheartened when Grande refused to take a photo with her.
Elvira recalled, "I ask her, ‘Can we take a photo together?’ and she goes, ‘No, I don’t really do that.’ Then she left before my show started, leaving all her relatives behind."
In response, Ariana jumped in on October 21, commenting on Elvira's Instagram about the incident. She expressed her dismay over Elvira's story and clarified her side of the situation. Grande explained, "I actually don’t even remember getting the chance to meet you because I had an anxiety attack and to my memory, left before the rest of my family."
She admitted to struggling with public settings at that time, stating, "I’m really not great with being in public crowds or loud places." Furthermore, she sincerely apologized if her actions caused offense to anyone.
In her post, Ariana acknowledged Elvira's kindness towards her mother, Joan Grande, even stating, "She might have different feelings about that now but I’ll talk to her... clearly, we all have our days!"
This incident’s resolution isn’t the only matter on Ariana’s agenda. Just days earlier, she supported her Wicked co-star Cynthia Erivo over another social media controversy concerning fan art. Erivo labeled "offensive" creations linked to the upcoming musical, and Grande shared her thoughts.
Ariana explained to Variety on October 19: "I think it’s very complicated because I find A.I. so conflicting and troublesome sometimes." Recognizing the vast scope of the issue, she noted the adjustment period fans and creators are experiencing.
While she valued fan creativity, she reassured support for Erivo’s perspective, declaring, "I have so much respect for my sister, Cynthia, and I love her so much. It’s just a big adjustment period."
