Ariana Grande's Decade-Long Journey to Becoming Glinda in Wicked
Ariana Grande anticipated her role as Glinda in "Wicked," even before officially landing the part. In an exclusive clip from PEOPLE, she reveals her proactive approach to dressing for the character.
"I had a little portion of my closet that was all just little pink tops," Grande shares. Her preparation began with fun thoughts like, "What underwear would Glinda wear today?"
The two-time Grammy winner expressed her long-standing desire to play Glinda. In the clip, she shares with a laugh, "I had been chasing [producer] Marc Platt down for about 10 years." She eagerly awaited the chance to audition for this beloved role.
Once she learned that auditions were around the corner, she jumped into action. "Great! Now's the time I'm starting," she notes. Grande's dedication shines through her recounting of her first audition.
She details her performances, which included singing "No One Mourns the Wicked" and "Popular." She also sang Elphaba's iconic songs, "Defying Gravity" and "The Wizard and I."
